Situ Patengan

Situ Patengan is a nice escape if you want to spend your holiday in a lake that flanked by tranquil tea plantation. This tourist attraction lies in Ciwidey, South Bandung and it is only 185 km from Jakarta through Cipularang toll road. Situ Patengan or Patenggang beautifully lies about 1,600 meters above sea level and it circled by tea plantation Rancabali. Here you can enjoy the greenery of tea plantation through enchanted topography. 

Based on local people belief, Patenggang derives from Sunda language, pateang-teangan that means mutual searching. This lake told about love story of Ki Santang and Dewi Rengganis. They are separated for a long times but their deep love met in a place that called Love Stone. Dewi Rengganis asked for a lake and a boat to sail together. This boat formed into an island that shaped heart and called Asmara Island or Sasaka Island. According to this story, people who stopped in Love Stone and circled Asmara Island will get eternal love like them.

After you are entering the gate of Situ Patengan, in this gate you should pay ticket entrance. Then you will find the lush of tea plantation. A journey of splitting tea plantation will gather you to a lake which has a small island in the middle. If you want to visit Love Stone, you can rent row boat. It needs about 30 minutes journey and you can take the picture of great tea plantation or the lake. The best time to visit Situ Patengan is in the morning when the clear sky featuring with the greenery of tea plantation because in the afternoon the fog descends. Patengan fog is very thick and you will not see anything instead ones in 1-2 meters distance.
