Museum Puri Lukisan
This museum started by a will of Rudolf Bonnet who want to preserve Bali art with Tjokorda Gde Agung Sukawati and his brother Tjokorda Gde Raka Sukawati. Passing along history, in 1956 Museum Puri Lukisan was officially opened for public by Education and Cultural Affairs Minister, Mr Mohammad Yamin. This museum started with paintings donations from Rudolf Bonnet then it was also received donations from different artists and friends who kindly help this museum. Museum Puri Lukisan displaying precious collections as they are talking about the development of Balinese art through its paintings and wood carvings.
Museum Puri Lukisan has precious collections as they divide into Wayang Style, Wood Carving, Pita Maha, I Gusti Nyoman Lempad and Modern Balinese Art. Museum Puri Lukisan addressed on Ubud Street in an artist village, Ubud. It is about 30 km from Denpasar and 40 km from the international airport. Museum Puri Lukisan also has gift shop for those who looking for a reminder of this museum. The gift shop products are varied from postcards, posters, museum catalogue, T-shirts until eco-friendly bags. It also sold art biographies of famous artists both local and overseas as well interesting art books on different subjects. This museum also renewing itself in the middle of 1999 by a museum café where you can take a rest amongst peaceful nature with drinks and light snacks.
