National Gallery Indonesia
Great nation is a country which is not forget its heroes’ merit said the first President of Indonesia, Bung Karno. In line with this motto National Gallery Indonesia is trying hard to conserve Indonesia richness while it serves its function to protect, to develop, and to advantage the fine arts asset as education-culture facility. The same things also functioned as recreation of people and the trigger of creativity instead of the art appreciation.
National Gallery Indonesia built on May 8, 1999 stretches on 17.600 square meters. It consists of office, Temporary Exhibition, Permanent Exhibition, Library, Auditorium, Storage, Laboratory, Artist House, Café Gallery, and Shop Gallery. Strategically lies in the center of Jakarta, this nation treasure placed nearby National Monument. It is being one of national asset amongst the complex of Country Palace and other government office.
About 1700 collection of both Indonesian and foreign artists are decorating this gallery. Here you can find the masterpiece of Raden Saleh, Hendra Gunawan, Affandi, S. Sudjojono, Basoeki Abdullah, Barli Sasmitawinata, Trubus, Popo Iskandar, Sudjana Kerton, Dede Eri Supria, Ivan Sagito, Lucia Hartini, Iriantine Karnaya, Hendrawan Riyanto, Nyoman Gunarsa, Made Wianta, Ida Bagus Made, I Ketut Soki, Wassily Kandinsky (Rusia), Hans Hartung (Jerman), Victor Vassarely (Hongaria), Sonia Delauney (Ukraina), Piere Soulages (Perancis), Zao Wou Ki (China). Annually this gallery is displaying modern fine arts and contemporary ones in at least 25 times. The exhibition may hold about 7 days or one month. Exhibition usually holds in its four buildings while each of them displaying paintings, statues, kria, graphic, photography, installation, new media art, and others.
