Bali in Electrical Shortage

Bali is facing severe shortage of electricity supply. Having a local power plant under maintenance, the state owned power company confirmed that power consumption during the peak hours is significantly higher than supply availability. Schedule of rolling power out has been laid out for at least the next two months.

The latest situation was an accumulated result of various problems in creating sufficient power supply both throughout the country as well as locally on the island. The previous monetary crisis of the country which was continued by global economic crisis has made investment plans pulled off. On the other hand plans to build power plant in Bali to allow the island enjoys self sufficiency has been blocked by various issues including people’s rejection.
